Orbit is a personal CRM (Contact Relationship Manager) that runs locally on your computer. The Chrome extension ("Orbit CRM — LinkedIn Contact Capture") helps you save contact information from LinkedIn profiles into your local Orbit database.
When you click the extension on a LinkedIn profile page, it reads the following information from the page you are already viewing:

This data is extracted from the page you are already viewing in your browser. The extension does not make any additional requests to LinkedIn, does not access your LinkedIn credentials, and does not scrape or crawl LinkedIn pages in the background.
All extracted data is sent only to your local Orbit server running on localhost:8080 on your own machine. Specifically:
All contact data is stored in a SQLite database file on your local machine. You own this file completely — you can back it up, inspect it, delete it, or move it at any time.
The extension itself does not store any data in Chrome's local storage, sync storage, or cookies. All data flows directly from the LinkedIn page to your local Orbit server and nowhere else.
The extension requests only the minimum permissions necessary to function:
linkedin.com pages.The extension communicates with exactly zero third-party services. All network communication occurs between the extension and your local machine (localhost:8080).
The broader Orbit CRM application (which runs locally and is separate from this extension) may optionally connect to third-party APIs if you explicitly configure them with your own API keys. These optional integrations are not part of the extension and are documented separately.

Orbit is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect information from children.
If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted here with a new "Last updated" date. Since Orbit is a local-only tool with no data collection, significant privacy changes are unlikely.
