Orbit CRM — LinkedIn Capture Extension · Last updated: February 8, 2026
Orbit is a personal CRM (Contact Relationship Manager) that runs locally on your computer. The Chrome extension ("Orbit CRM — LinkedIn Capture") helps you save contact information from LinkedIn profiles into your local Orbit database.
When you click the extension on a LinkedIn profile page, it reads:
This data is extracted from the page you're already viewing — the extension does not make any additional requests to LinkedIn or any other external service.
The extracted profile data is sent only to your local Orbit server running on localhost:8080 on your own machine. Specifically:
All contact data is stored in a SQLite database file (pris.db) on your local machine. You own this file completely — you can back it up, delete it, or move it at any time.
The extension does not store any data in Chrome's local storage or cookies. All data goes directly to your local Orbit server.
The extension itself communicates with zero third-party services. The broader Orbit application (running locally) may optionally connect to:
These are optional features configured by you, using your own API keys. No data flows through any Orbit-operated server.
Orbit is open source. You can review every line of code, including the extension, at github.com/colton-hess/orbit.
Orbit is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect information from children.
If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted here with a new "Last updated" date. Since Orbit is a local tool with no data collection, significant privacy changes are unlikely.
